Kishane Thompson has expressed excitement ahead of lining up against his competitors, noting that it is such fields that push him beyond his limits.

The Jamaican sprint king further added that he only competed once at the Prefontaine Classic, during the 2023 edition, where he clocked 9.87 seconds to settle for fourth.

Kishane Thompson missed out on the 2024 edition of the event due to an injury, and he is beyond excited to be back in 2025.

He added that when he lines up for the race, his main focus will be on crossing the finish line healthy as he gets ready for the major event of the season, the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

“I’m really excited…I only competed once, in 2023. I didn’t get the chance to compete in 2024 because I was not ready, and I was kind of hurt,” Kishane Thompson said in a video shared by Citius Mag.

“I’m always excited to run in competitive fields, and I won’t single out anyone. You have to give people their props, but once you line up against seven or eight other people, it’s a good feeling. Competition has to be there.”

Going down memory lane on the 2024 season, Kishane Thompson, it was more of a learning curve, and he is glad to have experienced it.

One of the moments that will forever be remembered was when Kishane Thompson lost the 100m Olympic title to Noah Lyles by five thousandths of a second.

However, he insisted on having placed all that behind him and is focused on becoming a better athlete and executing races properly. Kishane Thompson revealed that his training approach is quite different this season as he will also compete in a series of races.

“It gives me so much grit and a calm feeling knowing that under this immense pressure, your back is against the wall, and it comes down to the goal that you always wanted and worked for the entire season. The preparation has been a bit better, I’m running a lot more, and I’m grateful,” he added.

Kishane Thompson started his season with an indoor campaign before kickstarting his outdoor season with a second-place finish behind Akani Simbine at the Diamond League Meeting in Shanghai.

He then went to the World Athletics Relays but failed to compete due to Jamaica’s faulty baton exchanges between the first and second leg.

Kishane Thompson then competed at the JAAA WA Championships Preparation #1 before winning the Racers Grand Prix in style. His latest victory was at the Jamaican Championships, where he clocked 9.75 seconds, the fastest time since Usain Bolt’s retirement.
