Young Kenyan sprinter Mercy Oketch broke Mary Moraa’s 400m national record as she stormed to victory at Kip Keino Classic.
Mercy Oketch of Kenya broke the 400m national record as she won the race in style at Kip Keino Classic on Saturday.
Oketch, who had four other Kenyan rivals from the eight that entered the race, displayed power and strength as she stormed to the finish line in a new personal best time of 50.14 seconds, lowering the national record of 50.38 seconds set by Mary Moraa, at the same event in 2023.
The 22-year-old also hit the World Championships qualifying mark and she can look forward to featuring at the event in Tokyo, Japan if she maintains the form up to the trials.
