Here is a list of five things you need to know about the Kelvin Kiptum Commemorative Edition of the Amazfit Cheetah Pro smartwatch.

Amazfit, the brand that the late Kelvin Kiptum had signed a deal with will release his commemorative watch and fans are eagerly waiting for the details of the watch.

The release of the watch follows Kiptum’s tragic death following a grisly road accident that also took the life of his coach Gervais Hakizimana.

The world marathon record holder will now be honoured with a watch in his name by one of the leading global smart wearables brand, that was supposed to aid him in breaking the sub-two-hour marathon barrier at the NN Rotterdam Marathon.

Here are some features of the watch that curious fans and timepiece enthusiasts would be looking at before purchasing the watch.

1) Outlook

The Amazfit Cheetah Pro smartwatch features the colours of the Kenyan flag alongside Kiptum’s signature on the fabric band. The watch will also have a titanium alloy bezel in gold, as with the regular Cheetah Pro.

2) Unique feature

Besides the design, the watch is expected to be identical to the standard edition, offering GPS, offline maps, and various tools designed for racing and training.

3) Number of watches to be released

Only 235 units of the limited-edition watch have been made to signify Kiptum’s 2:00:35, the time he ran to break the world record at the Chicago Marathon last year.

4) Availability

Some watches will be available at the Rotterdam Marathon Expo on April 13 and 14 (Saturday and Sunday), with the remaining stock available at the Amazfit online store from Thursday, April 11.

5) Five

The cost of the Amazfit Cheetah Pro Kelvin Kiptum Commemorative Edition smartwatch is unclear, however, the standard Cheetah Pro retails for about Ksh 38,945, so Kiptum’s watch should also be available around the same price or slightly more than that.
