British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith has expressed her excitement at meeting Kenyan greats Faith Kipyegon and Eliud Kipchoge whom she is looking up to this season.
British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith has revealed her admiration at meeting multiple world and Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon as well as marathon great Eliud Kipchoge.
Asher-Smith was part of Nike-sponsored athletes who converged in Paris last week to unveil the Olympic kits for their respective countries with Kipyegon and Kipchoge modelling Team Kenya’s uniform.
During the meetup, the 2019 world 200m champion gushed about meeting the athletes that she admires this season with Kipyegon and Kipchoge topping the list.

These are the five biggest biggest takeaways from Monday's Boston Marathon:
“Made a promise to myself to take more pics with the ones I love + admire this season. Here’s my #NikeOnAir attempt… in the presence of greatness,” Asher-Smith posted on her Instagram story with a photo of her, Kipyegon and Kipchoge.
Kipyegon and Kicphoge are two of the world’s most revered athletes and it is not hard to understand Dina-Smith’s admiration since they are also among those seen as favourites to defend their Olympics titles in Paris this year.
Dina-Smith had a poor 2023 season when she finished seventh in the 200m and eighth in 100m at the World Championships which informed her decision to make a life-changing move to Texas, USA to prepare for the 2024 Olympics six months ago.
The move saw her separate from her long-time coach John Blackie, whom she worked with for 19 years, but she felt it was necessary to get away from the spotlight in Britain as she gears up for the Olympics.
“I went to a new coach, a new group, and a new philosophy. And part of the transformation is that I’m far more comfortable with letting people in,” Asher-Smith, now coached by highly rated Edrick “Flo” Floreal, told The Guardian.
“I’m loving it in Austin and I’ve been very spoiled with the sunshine. I feel like everybody laughs at me when I talk about the sun. But, as a Brit, it changes everything.”
