Daniel Simiu has explained that he does not like the Mr. Silver tag and would be keen to turn the tables ahead of the 2024 season.

Reigning World Half Marathon silver medallist Daniel Simiu is growing tired of the Mr. Silver tag and is keen to disband that going forward.

This season, Simiu has settled for second in two major assignments but he feels like his time for finishing runners-up is up.

He finished second in the 10,000m at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary before also finishing second at the World Road Running Championships.

As he gears up for the Olympic Games in Paris, France next year, he explained that he is tired of winning silver medals and his focus will now be on claiming victory.

“Next year, I am looking forward to the World Cross-country, that is what I’m preparing for. I’m also looking forward to the big match in Paris.

"I want to upgrade from the silver medal…my second-place finish in Riga was the last. I don’t like silver, many people call me Mr. Silver but I don’t like it,” Simiu explained.

Next year’s World Cross-country Championships, the 45th edition of the event, will be held on March 30 in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Olympic Games, scheduled for Paris, France, will be held from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11.
