Mixed fortunes for two key Harambee Stars players in Denmark this weekend.

Harambee Stars defender Daniel Anyembe played the full match as a right back in Viborg's crucial 1-0 victory over Hvidovre IF, bolstering their chances of remaining in the Danish SuperLiga for the next season.

Anyembe's performance highlighted his return to full fitness after a gradual recovery process managed by both his club and national team.

From the outset, Viborg dominated possession, but aside from a few long-range attempts from Serginho, clear-cut opportunities were scarce in the early stages. As the game progressed, Viborg continued to control proceedings, yet Hvidovre's sturdy defense held firm against their pressure.

However, Viborg's persistence paid off after 25 minutes when Jakob Bonde's effort forced Filip Djukic into a save, leading to Anosike Ementa gaining possession in midfield. Despite being under pressure, Ementa skillfully executed a heel finish, narrowly missing the target much to the disappointment of the traveling supporters.

Throughout the first half, Viborg maintained their attacking impetus, but lacked the cutting edge in the final third. Meanwhile, Hvidovre occasionally threatened on the counter but failed to create clear opportunities.

Hvidovre started the second half brightly, applying pressure on Viborg's defense and forcing goalkeeper Nico Mantl into action with several long-range attempts. However, as the game wore on, Viborg regained control, albeit without creating many scoring chances.

With 11 minutes remaining, Viborg broke the deadlock as Magnus Westergaard found Anyembe on the wing, who delivered a precise cross into the box. Jakob Vester met the cross with a composed finish, scoring his first Superliga goal and securing three crucial points for Viborg.

Despite Hvidovre's attempts to mount a late comeback, Viborg held on for the victory, allowing them to leave the field with a valuable win in their pursuit of SuperLiga survival.

Odada's AaB fall short

Things were not so rosy for his international teammate Richard Odada in the second division as Aalsborg’s struggles continued, failing to win their sixth consecutive match. Losing 3-2 to Hobro.

Odada, who had been making appearances as a substitute recently, was given a start, and was on the pitch for 70 minutes before being subbed off for Daniel Ask.

Hobro IK took an early lead, scoring two goals within the first 18 minutes of the match. However Aalborg fought back, with Mathias Jørgensen and Kasper Jørgensen netting goals to level the score at 2-2 before halftime.

The second half saw both teams continue to push for a winning goal. However, it was Hobro who ultimately found the back of the net again, with Villads Rasmussen scoring what proved to be the decisive goal, giving them a 3-2 lead.

With this result, they  remain in second place in the NordicBet League with 56 points, trailing behind Sønderjyske in first place by six points and leading FC Fredericia in third place.

With 12 points left to play for, our team will continue to push for success in the remaining matches of the season.
