The reigning world 100m champion started her season with a fourth-place finish in the women’s 100m at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix.

Sha’Carri Richardson hinted at having an injury earlier in the season, something that prevented her from competing in her usual form and slowed her down, but she remains defiant about her capabilities.

However, her message on X (Twitter) is clear that she is aware of her struggles this season and is working towards getting back to the top, asserting that it is just a matter of when and not how.

“I WILL ALWAYS GET BACK UP!!!” Sha’Carri Richardson boldly affirmed.

The world 200m bronze medallist had an amazing 2024 season, starting it on a healthy note before heading to the US Trials for the Olympic Games, where she won the 100m and finished fourth in the 200m.

At the Paris Olympic Games, Sha’Carri Richardson was a favourite to win the women’s 100m but a poor start heavily cost her, and she was forced to take silver behind Julien Alfred.

However, she bounced back to winning ways in the women’s 4x100m relay, claiming the gold medal in the rainy weather.

This year, Sha’Carri Richardson’s main focus remains on defending her 100m title despite the tough opposition awaiting her from her compatriot Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Olympic champion Julien Alfred, 10-time world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and world 200m champion Shericka Jackson, among others.

She will gauge her form at the US National Championships and hopefully, all goes well for her as she remains focused on the top prize.
