Promote who? — Fans blast NPFL club Shooting Stars after promoting 'promising' goalkeeper

Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, side Shooting Stars are facing a backlash from fans after promoting one of their players.

Shooting Stars Sports Club confirmed the promotion of goalkeeper Babatunde Gbolahan ahead of the 2023/2024 Football League season.

The club took to their social media platform to announce the addition of the goalkeeper from their team B on Thursday evening.

In a statement on their official X.com page, Shooting Stars, also known as 3SC presented the player to the fans.

The club noted that that goalkeeper had been promoted as a reward for excellency.

“Promoted,” the club stated in the post. “We are glad to announce that promising goalkeeper, Babatunde Gbolahan, has been promoted to the main team from our Team B. A reward for Excellency.”

Following the unveiling of the goalkeeper, a section of the club fans and NPFL followers reacted to the post.
