Nigerian excellence inspires 5-star Fulham as Iwobi, Bassey help lock up poor Hammers in the Cottage
Fulham returned to winning ways after an emphatic 5-0 demolition of West Ham United at the Craven Cottage on Sunday.
Exceptional performances from the Nigerian trio of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Tosin Adarabioyo contributed significantly to locking down the poor Hammers.
Iwobi’s Dazzling Display
Nigerian playmaker took centre stage with another stellar performance for his club, Fulham.
After his double in the 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham the last time, Iwobi contributed one of the goals to help the Cottagers run riot.
The 27-year-old assisted the second goal of the day scored by Brazilian international, Willan, to give Fulham a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The chance was one of two created by the former Everton man, who was on the pitch for 79 minutes before he was substituted.
Iwobi, who has scored three goals and assisted two goals, also completed 100% of his dribbles and made six recoveries in the game.
Bassey’s Clean sheet
While his compatriot assisted in the offensive third, versatile defender, Calvin Bassey, did the same in the defensive third.
The 23-year-old was in fine form as Fulham made it back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League.
Unlike his club and national teammate, Iwobi, Bassey was on the pitch from start to finish.
He completed 86% of his passes, 100% of his dribbles, 100% of his tackles, and 100% of his aerial and ground duels, in addition to seven recoveries.
Fulham dominate at home
The Cottagers have turned the Craven Cottage into a festival of goals after running riot against Nottingham and now, West Ham.
Fulham have now scored 10 goals in their last two home games, after back-to-back 5-0 victories at the Cottage.
