Spurs were hoping for a first win in five matches after three defeats and a draw in the previous four.

The hosts started on the right note when Cristian Romero’s 11th-minute header put them 1-0 ahead.

But as has become a habit, Spurs failed to hold on the lead for long, with West Ham back level early in the second half courtesy of Bowen.

With 16 minutes left to play, the visitors capitalised on a bizarre error from Spurs defence, Ward-Prowse pouncing to punish them and seal all three points for David Moyes and his Hammers.

After a blistering start to life in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou seems to have lost his magic, with three consecutive defeats at home now in the Premier League.

Spurs have also lost four of their last five matches while West Ham extended their unbeaten run to six matches across all competitions.
