Harambee Stars striker Moses Shumah has finally addressed his omission from recent national team call-ups under Benni McCarthy, despite enjoying a sensational run of form in front of goal.

The in-form forward last earned a call-up during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), but was forced to withdraw after completing his move from Kakamega Homeboyz to Zambian giants Power Dynamos.

Since then, Moses Shumah has been in prolific scoring form, making his continued absence from the squad a talking point among fans.

His exclusion was once again notable during Harambee Stars’ most recent assignment at the FIFA Series, where he was overlooked despite his impressive goal tally in the Zambian top flight.

Moses Shumah Sends Message to Benni McCarthy

However, Moses Shumah has remained calm and focused amid the snubs, choosing not to dwell on the decision. Instead, the striker insists his priority is to keep delivering on the pitch, expressing confidence that consistent performances will eventually earn him a recall to the national team.

"I won't say I know the reason why they don't call me, because I think that's for the officials and the coach," Moses Shumah told Bola News. "My part is just to push and score goals, that's all. I don't know the other side."

Recently, in Power Dynamos’ 3-0 victory over Kabwe Warriors, Moses Shumah was in sensational form as he scored a brace.

Shumah’s brace took him to 20 league goals, making him the first player to reach that mark in the Zambian Super League since 2018, when Idris Mbombo did so.

He also became the first Kenyan to hit 20 goals in Zambia’s top flight, surpassing the previous record of 18 set by compatriot Jesse Were at ZESCO United.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz striker has now scored five braces this season. With seven matches still to play, Shumah is now within striking distance of the long-standing record of 28 goals, set by Zesco United legend Winstone Kalengo in 2006.

At the moment, the Kenyan forward remains focused on his club's Champions League ambitions amid transfer speculation.

As his goals fuel Power Dynamos' title defence, Shumah's exceptional form has reportedly attracted interest from clubs in Tanzania and South Africa.

When questioned about his future with the club, Shumah affirmed his dedication. "For now, I am a Power Dynamos player, and I am committed to my team," he stated. "I won't say anything about the interest or if anyone has approached me. Right now, I am just focusing on getting the team back to the Champions League."

Zambian League a Step Up in Competition

Before his move to Zambia last year, Moses Shumah had an impressive season in the Kenya Premier League, scoring 17 goals. However, he believes the Zambian league presents a greater challenge.

"I cannot say the Zambian league is easy. The intensity is much higher compared to the Kenyan league," Shumah explained.

"Playing in the Kenyan league for the last three seasons sharpened me to be where I am today. So, I will say the Kenyan league helped me play here, but the Zambian league is better."
