Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has labelled Arsenal as this season’s Premier League title favourites, pointing to Mikel Arteta’s long-term project as the decisive factor giving the Gunners an edge over their rivals.

The comments arrive just days before Liverpool host Arsenal in a high-profile clash at Anfield on Sunday evening (18:30), with both sides boasting perfect records after two games.

Salah, who signed a two-year contract extension earlier this summer, argued that Arsenal’s biggest advantage lies in the continuity Arteta has built over several seasons.

Arsenal Are Well-Gelled - Salah

“I said Arsenal are the title favourites because they have a team that has been playing together for 5–6 years, so they understand each other and have had the same manager for 5–6 years,” the Egyptian told Sky Sports.

“When a team stays together for that long, the players know each other, and everything becomes easier for them.”

Unlike Liverpool and Manchester City, who both oversaw major squad changes in the summer transfer window, Arsenal largely kept faith with the core that pushed City deep into last year’s title race.

Arsenal have bolstered their ranks with seven new additions, with an eighth on his way in Pierro Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen after both sides struck a loan deal for the Ecuadorian.

Among the other seven signings, the three key ones are midfielders Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi as well as striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal Are Still Favorites -Salah

By contrast, Liverpool’s “massive spending” saw a significant upgrade on their forward line despite winning the title last season, , while City also refreshed their squad following an underwhelming campaign.

Salah admitted that Guardiola’s presence always makes City contenders but maintained that Arsenal’s settled squad puts them slightly ahead in this year’s race.

“Okay (laughs), a team with Pep Guardiola [as manager] is always a favourite, but my opinion is that this year, Arsenal is number one,” Salah added.

The early results back up his assessment. Liverpool edged Bournemouth (4–2) and Newcastle (3–2) in their opening fixtures, while Arsenal secured a narrow win over Manchester United (1–0) before thrashing Leeds (5–0). Both clubs head into Sunday’s clash with confidence high.

Bookmakers also lean toward Arsenal, placing them as slight favourites for the title, with Liverpool considered a very close second.

Manchester City, despite their recent dominance, sit third in most markets, while Chelsea are rated as the only other side with a realistic chance of challenging.
