The 2010/11 Premier League golden boot winner with Man United has explained why he was dissapointed Viktor Gyokeres chose to snub the Red Devils for Arsenal.
Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur forward Dimitar Berbatov, has admitted he is “a bit disappointed” that Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres chose Arsenal over a move to Old Trafford.
Speaking to A BOLA from the Algarve, where he is taking part in the Summer Football Camp at Pine Cliffs Resort in Albufeira, Berbatov praised the Swedish forward’s quality but couldn’t hide his regret that United missed out.
“Yes, he was phenomenal in Portugal. The goals… Some were incredible. You can see his style, the way he carries himself, his celebrations – that’s confidence,” Berbatov said.

Millions Harambee Stars Will Earn from CAF After Sealing CHAN 2024 Quarter-Final Ticket
Harambee Stars clinched their CHAN 2024 quarter-final ticket without kicking a ball on Thursday but how much is their reward from the tournament organisers?
“When you score goals, when you’re a striker, that’s everything. You’re the king of the world. You walk differently; nobody can tell you anything.
“And I’m a little envious, to be honest. Sad and even disappointed he didn’t go to United, especially given the Portuguese connection. But he chose Arsenal.”
Why Arsenal Made Sense for Gyokeres
Berbatov acknowledged that Arsenal’s attacking style under Mikel Arteta could suit Gyökeres perfectly.
“Arsenal are playing well – attractive, passing football, probing for openings. Arteta is a Pep Guardiola disciple, and that’s how he plays, he’ll never change. Gyökeres will have chances to score there, for sure.”
