Kenya and Gambia Out of World Cup Contention

Football Kenya Federation has urged fans to take advantage and buy the tickets early as they will not be sold at the gate in a bid to ensure order on match day.

Unlike at CHAN 2024, which was only played by local-based players, the World Cup qualifiers will involve foreign-based stars, with captain Michael Olunga leading the contingent of overseas players.

The match is a dead rubber as both The Gambia and Kenya are out of contention for a World Cup place with Harambee Stars fourth in Group F on six points from as many matches while leaders Ivory Coast are 10 points ahead and second-placed Gabon have nine more that McCarthy’s team.

Johnathan McKinstry’s men, meanwhile, are worse off as they have four points from six matches, and will be looking for a positive result to boost their rankings.

Harambee Stars have another home match against Seychelles on September 9.
