Marcus Rashford: 3 Reasons Why He Is Worth Three Times the €30 Million Barcelona Deal
Marcus Rashford's move to Barcelona has raised eyebrows, with some questioning the deal's structure and the player's current market value.
After spending the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford has officially joined Barcelona on loan with an option to buy for €30 million (£26 million). Barcelona will cover his substantial £325,000-a-week wages.
However, due to La Liga's financial regulations, the club is currently unable to register him, though they have assured Marcus Rashford this will be resolved before the transfer window closes.

Financial expert Stefan Borson, formerly of Manchester City, described Barcelona's pulling power as ‘enormous,’ even with their financial constraints.
He also characterised Marcus Rashford's situation as a ‘probation period,’ highlighting the risk involved for the player.
Marcus Rashford: Proven Top-Level Experience and Output
At 27, Marcus Rashford is in his prime and brings a track record of elite-level performance, including 11 goals and nine assists last season across two clubs.
For a fast, experienced England international with years of Premier League and Champions League experience, €30 million is a massive undervaluation.
“He’s a 27-year-old, he’s a very fast, experienced player, so a player of his quality on paper should be worth three times that,” Stefan Borson told Football Insider.
Marcus Rashford: Market Value Mismatch for a Player of His Profile
Even former Man City adviser Stefan Borson acknowledged that ‘a player of his quality on paper should be worth three times that.’
The deal's structure, a low-cost buy option after a loan, suggests a poor reflection of Marcus Rashford’s market value, especially in comparison to less-proven players fetching £70M+ in today’s inflated market.
“He’s on loan and if he performs he could get sold for €30million… that’s borne out by the way this deal is structured,” he added.
Marcus Rashford: Barcelona’s Willingness to Cover High Wages Signals His Value
Barcelona are committing to pay Marcus Rashford's full £325,000-a-week wages despite La Liga registration delays, a clear indicator they see long-term value in him.
“The pull of Barcelona is enormous… I’m always surprised if you’re a player that you’re prepared to take the chance that they do manage to get through their issue again,” he added.
A club battling financial constraints does not do that for a player worth only €30 million, they are betting on a high-upside asset at a bargain price.
