Premier League giants Manchester United have announced the signing of former defender Jonny Evans on a short-term contract as they look for defensive reinforcements ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Manchester United sign Evans on short-term deal
Evans left relegated Leicester City at the end of the 2022/23 season, following the end of his contract, and had been training with the Red Devils, apparently doing enough to convince the club to re-sign him eight years after his departure.

The Northern-Irish centre-back will now join Manchester United’s pre-season tour and could be in the Red Devils’ team to play Lyon.
Despite being 35 years old, Evans will play for Manchester United again in the 2023/24 season, presumably acting as cover for ex-captain Harry Maguire.
Maguire heading for Manchester United exit
Maguire is believed to be looking for a move away from Manchester United after being stripped of the club’s captaincy, and he might have already played his last match for the Red Devils.
Clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham, and West Ham are rumoured to be interested in a cut-price deal for the wantaway centre-back, with a move away from Old Trafford on the cards for the former skipper.
Maguire’s exit from Manchester United has been celebrated by fans, but it is unlikely that many saw his replacement coming in the form of veteran defender Evans, who was part of the last Red Devils team to win the Premier League.
