Speaking after the race, Christian Coleman was impressed with his performance as he explained that he has yet to compete in a series of 200m races this season.
He added that going into the race, all he wanted to do was just have a good execution, something he believes he achieved, but expressed hunger to get to the podium in his next race.
“Felt okay. I mean, I haven't run many 200s all year, so my plan was really just to try to execute a good race and just try to use it to prepare me, like you said, for next week going into Zurich,” Christian Coleman said in a video shared by Citius Mag on YouTube.
“So, I feel like I executed that, but as a competitor, you definitely want to see your name higher up on the podium. But overall, it was okay.”
Christian Coleman: That's Definitely the Plan
He revealed that his main goals going forward are to make a mark at the Diamond League Meeting final, and hopefully also make the individual team to the World Championships.
Christian Coleman also expressed the desire to be included in the relay team, revealing that he will be out to ensure Team USA win a medal.
“Yeah, that's definitely the plan. Try to go to Tokyo and help us win a medal. But first, lock in on the Diamond League championship. I feel like I got a really good opportunity there next week,” Christian Coleman added.
“So, put all my chips in there and see what I can do and then reset, refocus, and try to go and represent in the relay the best way I can.”
Christian Coleman Responds to Whether He Enjoys Going to Europe
Christian Coleman, when asked whether he enjoys going to Europe, said it was a bit of both, depending on the stage of the season.
He explained that he personally preferred preparing for the World Championships, but understood that some athletes travel to Europe to get races in and improve.
The 2019 world 100m champion added that for those who enjoy the experiences of travelling, competing, and doing what they love, it was ultimately a blessing.
“I guess it is a little bit different when you're on the circuit and you don't have that on the horizon for you. But it's 100% just all a blessing to be able to come out here and do what you love to do and get paid to do it. Like it's crazy,” he added.
Christian Coleman and Sha'Carri Richardson Drama
Christian Coleman and Sha'Carri Richardson have recently been in the news following a public dispute at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on July 27, 2025.
According to a police report and airport security footage, Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested on a fourth-degree domestic violence charge.
The footage reportedly showed Sha’Carri Richardson pushing Christian Coleman and throwing an object at him.
Christian Coleman, who was also present, did not press charges and reportedly told police that he did not want to be considered a victim. He has since publicly defended Sha’Carri Richardson, stating that she should not have been arrested.
Sha’Carri Richardson has publicly apologised to Christian Coleman on her social media, expressing remorse for her actions.
She acknowledged her past trauma and pain and stated that she is committed to self-reflection and personal growth. Both athletes continued to compete at the USATF Championships in the days following the incident.
