Gor Mahia Reveal Millions Generated from Hard-Fought Draw With Kenya Police
Gor Mahia may have failed to get maximum points from their 1-1 draw against Kenya Police but they still made a tidy sum from gate collections.
K’Ogalo needed an 86th minute goal from substitute Ebenezer Assifuah to salvage a point after Police had taken a 22nd minute lead at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
Charles Akonnor’s side had knocked on the door multiple times without success as the Police goalkeeper stood tall until late in the game when they levelled matters.
As per the club’s treasurer Gerphas Okuku, the match was witnessed by 7,490 fans who bought tickets, helping the club raise nearly Ksh2.4 million from the contest.
How Much Did K’Ogalo Raise?
“A total of 7,490 tickets were sold during today’s match against Police FC at Nyayo Stadium, generating Ksh2,388,800 in revenue. We sincerely thank all Gor Mahia fans for the incredible support and continued loyalty,” Okuku said via a statement posted on the club’s social media pages.
Gor Mahia have been reaping the rewards of their good season with fans turning up in large numbers to push the players as they fight to reclaim the FKF Premier League title from Kenya Police.
Their draw with Police slowed their march to the title somewhat but they still have a seven-point lead over second-placed AFC Leopards, who have a game in hand.
Gor Mahia can ill afford to drop more points in their final three games of the season as that would allow Ingwe to close in.
