FKF President Hussein Mohammed Reveals Details of Meeting With CAF Boss Patrice Motsepe
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Hussein Mohammed has shared details of his meeting with Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe, amid the ongoing leadership crisis in the federation.
Patrice Motsepe is in the country for the Africa Forward Summit. He is also holding several meetings with senior officials from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda to discuss preparations for the 2027 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
During his visit, the CAF president has already met several key stakeholders, including Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi, and acting CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu.
He also held talks with Uganda FA president Moses Magogo alongside Sports Minister Peter Ogwang, Tanzania FA president Wallace Karia with Sports Minister Paul Makonda, and members of the Pamoja Local Organising Committee, including Hussein Mohammed.
Hussein Mohammed Shares Meeting Details with CAF President Patrice Motsepe
Hussein Mohammed shared a post on his X account detailing the outcome of the meeting chaired by Dr Motsepe, which focused on reviewing preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations to be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
He noted that the engagement brought together key stakeholders involved in the AFCON 2027 project, where updates were shared on the progress made by the three host nations as they continue gearing up for the continental tournament.
According to his account, Motsepe expressed satisfaction with the strides already achieved across the three countries and conveyed confidence that the upcoming tournament would ultimately be delivered successfully and to a high standard.
“We held a successful meeting chaired by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, to review the Pamoja AFCON 2027 preparations across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania,” he said.
“Dr Motsepe commended the significant progress made by the three host nations and expressed confidence that Pamoja AFCON 2027 will be a resounding success.”
The three host nations also reiterated their commitment to continued cooperation, intending to ensure full preparedness and stage what they hope will be the most successful Africa Cup of Nations in the tournament’s history.
“The host nations reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration to ensure full readiness and to deliver the most successful AFCON in the competition’s history,” he added.
However, from the information shared, discussions did not touch on the ongoing leadership disputes within the Football Kenya Federation involving McDonald Mariga and Hussein Mohammed.
