Considered the greatest of all time when it comes to the 1,500m, Kipyegon had yet a wonderful season that was capped off with a fourth world title over the distance, further cementing her legacy.

It was a season when Kipyegon chose her events carefully and also attempted to achieve another piece of history when she tried to be the first woman to run a mile under four minutes.

Kipyegon started her season at the Xiamen Diamond League where she featured in the 1,000m and won, pocketing $10,000 (Ksh1.29 million) after which she turned her focus on her Breaking4 campaign, when she attempted to run a mile under four minutes in Paris in June, but she was not successful as she managed 4:06.42 in a race organised by her sponsors Nike.

However, Kipyegon was not deterred and just over a week later, she broke her own 1,500m world record at the Prefontaine Classic (Eugene Diamond League) in early July as she ran 3:48.68 to win the race.

That earned Kipyegon another $10,000 for winning the race and an extra $50,000 (Ksh6.4 million) bonus for breaking the world record.

Kipyegon would run her final Diamond League race of the season in Silesia, Poland in August, opting for the 3,000m race which she won, for another $10,000 but skipped the season finale to focus on her preparations for the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

In Tokyo, Kipyegon asserted her authority when she claimed a fourth world title and the gold medal win earned her $70,000 (Ksh9 million) while her attempts to win a second gold was not successful as she lost the 5,000m title to her friend Beatrice Chebet.

However, Kipyegon still went home with a silver medal which earned her $35,000 (Ksh4.5 million), taking her total from Tokyo to $105,000 (Ksh13.6 million).

Upon returning home, Kipyegon was among Team Kenya medalists who were rewarded by the government with gold attracting Ksh3 million, silver Ksh2 million and Ksh1 million for bronze.

For her efforts in Tokyo, the 31-year-old was awarded a combined Ksh5 million for the gold and silver, further boosting her bank balance.

Kipyegon would complete her season by winning a second straight title at Athlos, a women-only track event in New York, where winners of each discipline were pocketing $60,000 (Ksh7.7 million).

From her track earnings in 2025 therefore, Kipyegon pocketed Ksh36 million. However, the figure is likely higher as it is still not known what she was paid by Nike for the Breaking4 attempt as well as the bonuses they have in her contract for gold and silver medals at the World Championships.
