Kenya Sevens made it three wins in as many group games and will now be hoping for a favourbale draw in the cup quarter-final.

Kenya Sevens finished top of their group at the Africa Sevens following a third straight win, this time handing Zambia a 38-12 defeat in Harare, Zimbabwe on Saturday.

Two tries from Samuel Asati and one a-piece from captain Vincent Onyala, Nygel Amaitsa, Patrick Odongo, and Beldad Ogeta added to three conversions from Tony Omondi and one by Brian Tanga did the job for Shujaa.

Asati dummied his way to the try line for Kenya’s first try which was converted by Omondi before Onyala made it 12-0 shortly.

Zambia pulled one back but Asati danced his way to the tryline yet again, Omondi adding the extras for a 19-5 lead in favour of Kevin Wambua’s men. Amaitsa extended Kenya’s lead to 24-5 at half time with a try of his own.

Odongo then continued from where Shujaa had left off in the first half, Omondi converting for a 31-5 lead, but Zambia had something up their sleeves as they scored a converted try to reduce the deficit to 31-12.

However, Ogeta hammered the last nail in their coffin with a converted try for Kenya who won 38-12.

It was a perfect day for Wambua and his charges who started with a 34-10 win over Nigeria before thrashing Namibia 50-0 in their second match.

Shujaa will now be awaiting the cup quarter-final draw to know who they will face on Sunday with hopes that finishing top of Group B will earn them a less daunting opponent.
