Kenya Sevens put Namibia to the sword to make it to the last eight of the Africa Sevens which is acting as the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers.

Kenya Sevens sealed their place in the cup quarter-final of the Africa Sevens tournament following a second straight win after thrashing Namibia 50-0.

Having started their campaign with a 34-10 win over Nigeria, Shujaa needed a second win to make the last eight and it came with relative ease in the Pool B encounter.

Brace of tries from Patrick Odongo and skipper Vincent Onyala, added to John Okoth, Kevin Wekesa, and George Ooro’s touchdowns did the trick for Kevin Wambua’s men.

Tony Omondi converted five of the eight tries, earning Kenya 10 points for the huge win at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe on Saturday.

Unlike Nigeria who showed some flashes of brilliance, Namibia were subdued from the start by Shujaa who looked sharp throughout.

Odongo scored the first try following a shimmy dummy after a lung-bursting run before Onyala made it 12-0 and Wekesa would make it 17-0 shortly after.

Shujaa then turned defence into attack, Onyala racing 65m to score his second try which Omondi converted for a 24-0 lead at the break.

Okoth then opened his account in Harare to extend Kenya’s lead before Weksea played in Odongo for his second with further tries from Okoth and Ooro sealing the big win for Shujaa.

Kenya will play Zambia at 4.34 pm Kenyan time in their final group game seeking a win to ensure they top Pool B which might see them get a favourable quarter-final draw.
