Kabras and KCB will host the semi-finals of the Kenya Cup.

The 2022-2023 Kenya Cup regular season drew its curtains on Saturday 25 February with Kabras Sugar, KCB RFC, Menengai Oilers and Kenya Harlequins confirming their semi final berths.

Reining champions Kabras suffered a massive scare against Menengai Oilers in the final game of the regular season in what was a repeat of the 2022 Kenya Cup final.

Oilers were leading 10-8 at half time but Kabras resumed the closing half much stronger and raced to a 13-15 lead before a lightning strike lead to the abandonment of the clash midway through the second half.

Kabras were eventually declared winners of the clash meaning that they took the converted top spot which meant that would host the semis and final.

The two-time Kenya Cup champions also finished the season with a 100% record as they will now take on 2012 champions Kenya Harlequins in the semi final.

KCB closed their season with an emphatic 49-8 victory over University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine who suffered relegation following the heavy defeat.

The Bankers confirmed their second place finish and will now face Menengai Oilers in the semi finals of the Playoffs in a repeat of last season’s semis where the Nakuru-based side emerged victorious.

Masinde Muliro who have endured a torrid season that only saw them win one game joined Mean Machine in suffering the drop to the Championship following the 14-18 defeat against Mwamba.

Monks managed to secure their top flight status despite suffering a 12-26 defeat at the hands of Nakuru RFC with their superior head to head record against Machine preserving their status.

Blak Blad who were one of the dark horses of this season ended their campaign with a 36-24 win over Homeboyz RFC with the Deejays avoiding relegation by a single point having only won one game this year.

In the Championship log leaders Nondescript who suffered a 7-0 loss at the hands of arch rivals Impala Saracens in the Ngong Road Derby will host South Coast Pirates in the semi finals.

Second placed Daystar University who earned promotion to the Championship this season will host Kisumu RFC in the other semi final with the winner between both matches earning promotion to the Kenya Cup.
