Kenya has won the Africa Kabaddi 2024 Championship, securing their return to the Kabaddi World Cup with a dominant performance.

Kenya emerged victorious in the Africa Kabaddi 2024 Championship on Saturday, defeating Uganda with a decisive 44-23 score in the final match held at Kasarani. This win not only crowns them as champions but also secures their spot in the upcoming Kabaddi World Cup.

The team continued to dominate in the second half, adding an impressive 24 points to their tally, while Uganda managed to score only 10 more points.

Kenya’s defense was particularly noteworthy as proved to be an insurmountable barrier for the Ugandan raiders, with the hosts covers executing superb tackles.

"Our defense strategy was key to keeping the Ugandans at bay. Every player executed their role with precision, and it paid off," remarked David Silishia, Kenya’s captain as per Citizen Digital.

Silishia also shared his thoughts on the team's aspirations looking forward.

"We are thrilled with this victory and are already gearing up for the World Cup. With the right support and preparation, we are confident of making a significant impact on the global stage," he said.

James Kamweti, named man of the match for his outstanding performance, expressed his confidence in the team's abilities and their status in African Kabaddi.

"Winning this championship proves that we are the giants in Africa when it comes to Kabaddi. We are excited to take on top teams like India and Iran at the World Cup," Kamweti stated.

Samuel Wafula, who was named the best defender of the tournament, played a crucial role in Kenya's defensive success.

His performance throughout the tournament highlighted his skills and strategic play, contributing significantly to Kenya's championship win.

Kenya's recent triumph adds to their impressive track record in Kabaddi, following their bronze medal win at the Bangabandhu Cup in Bangladesh.
