From an athlete's perspective, Collins Injera has outlined that one of the best feelings is the excitement to be performing on such a big stage.

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya Athlete Representative Collins Injera has explained that a lot of excitement is building up ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris, France scheduled to run from July 2 to August 11.

“From an athlete’s perspective, the Olympic Games are the pinnacle in terms of their excellence, and from our side, seeing the teams that have qualified for the Olympic Games, the excitement begins.

It’s less than a year ahead of Paris 2024 and the focus so far in terms of support to the athletes has been ensuring the teams are able to honour their opportunities for them to qualify.

It’s been great to see rugby and the Malkia Strikers qualify despite the challenges,” Injera said during a press briefing.

He added that for them, their main aim is to ensure that the athletes and teams that have qualified are supported fully as they burn the midnight oil to impress at the event.

The Olympian also explained that there are athletes who are to qualify for the event but have high chances of doing so and they will be keen to offer a helping hand.

“As a former athlete I guess the excitement around the games and seeing a huge Team Kenya out of the games really brings it home.

When they will be able to walk out on the parade and we shall be able to see all these athletes.

As athletes, we have the talent to showcase what else we can do and there is no bigger stage to do that other than at the Olympics,” he added.

He also urged the athletes who might miss out on the opportunity not to give up since there are many other events lined up for them.
