The 2022 Safari Rally champion Kalle Rovanpera has fired warning shots ahead of making his return to the 2023 edition of the event slated for Thursday, June 22 to Sunday in Naivasha.
The Finn expressed his excitement towards returning to Kenya and warned that he will be keen to display a much better performance when he takes on the tough course for this year’s edition.

The highly-anticipated event takes place from Thursday, June 22 to Sunday, June 25 in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
Driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 hybrid car, the 21-year-old stormed to take victory in 3:40:24.9 after four days of proper 363.5kms rally.
“Last year Halttunen Jonne (his navigator) and I took the victory in the most epic rally on the calendar, in Kenya. This year, we are really excited to come back and I hope to see all my fans there because we are going in full force,” he said.
Since the 2023 season started, Rovanpera has finished among the top five in all the six rallies he has competed in. He started off with a second-place finish at the Monte Carlo Rally in January before finishing fourth at the Rally Sweden.
He then finished fourth in the Rally Mexico and Croatia Rally. He won in the Rally in Portugal before finishing third at the Rally Italia Sardegna. His next port of call is now the Safari Rally.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Ogier of France has also will also be looking for redemption in Kenya after a disappointing outing in the Rally Italia Sardegna.
In a post on his Twitter account, he said: "It wasn't the weekend we were hoping for, but we'll be back in the car in Kenya already, and let's hope for a bit more success!"
