Alexandra Ndolo has penned a heartfelt message after an official announcement concerning her Olympic qualification was made.

It is now official that German-born Kenyan fencer Alexandra Ndolo has qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris, France scheduled for later this year.

Ndolo secured the slot after displaying her world-class skills at the FIE Women's Epee World Cup in Nanjing, China where she finished 11th out of 191 competitors. She made it to the Round of 16 before she lost 15-9 to Alicja Klasic of Poland.

Ndolo now becomes the first ever Kenyan to qualify for the Olympics in fencing and she has her work cut out as she chases the Olympic dream.

She has promised to burn the midnight oil and ensure she represents Kenya well in the global showpiece. She extended a hand of gratitude to her mother, who has been a great pillar in her career.

“Officially qualified and heading to Paris! Being in the Olympics and being the first Kenyan to compete in fencing is a dream come true!

“Ready to put in the hard work and represent Kenya with everything I’ve got on the big stage. Thanks to my family, friends, coaches, and club for supporting me thus far.

“Also, a special thanks to my mum for supporting me unconditionally throughout the last months. Grateful to have all of you around me. Let’s make history together!” she penned the heartfelt message on her Instagram page.

Meanwhile, Ndolo started competing for Kenya unofficially in July 2022 after representing Germany for 15 years. She received official confirmation and approval from the International Olympic Committee to represent Kenya at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games last June, the news coming just a day after emerging as the African champion.
