Carl 'Flash' Tundo, Kenya's homegrown driving sensation, dazzled the global motorsports community with a jaw-dropping performance at the recently concluded WRC Safari Rally.

Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba has expressed his unwavering commitment to supporting and uplifting rallying in Kenya during a special event held on Monday.

The occasion not only celebrated the successful completion of the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Kenya but also marked 70 years of rallying in the country.

In a gathering that brought together esteemed motorsports professionals and enthusiasts, Namwamba acknowledged the extraordinary efforts of the local WRC Safari Rally drivers.

The CS praised their dedication and perseverance as they navigated the bustling streets of Nairobi and conquered the challenging roads, ultimately hoisting the Kenyan flag high.

"As a Cabinet Secretary, I want to assure you that the Government is committed to supporting and uplifting the driving profession in Kenya because Safari Rally is not just about foreign drivers flying in with their cars, zooming around our towns for a while, and flying back," Namwamba emphasized.

Namwamba expressed his determination to harness this momentum and provide ample support to further elevate motorsports in Kenya.

The recently concluded Safari Rally had been a dazzling display of driving prowess, leaving spectators in awe.

However, it was a homegrown hero who stole the spotlight. Carl 'Flash' Tundo, a local driver with a name that echoed triumph, had delivered a commendable performance that left the nation spellbound.

Driving a Skoda Fabia Rally 2, Tundo showcased his skill and determination, finishing third in the 2023 WRC Safari Rally 2 championship.

It was a fairy-tale result, etching his name in the annals of history for the second time in the FIA WRC support categories.

The rallying event not only showcased Kenya's breathtaking landscapes and wildlife but also captivated motorsport enthusiasts from around the world.
