Having announced himself to the world at Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven, Depay sealed a mega-money switch to Manchester United in 2015.
However, the move did not quite work out for the talented forward who would eventually go on loan to rediscover his blistering form at Lyon in Ligue 1.
An impressive loan stint with the French giants saw him seal a permanent switch to the 7-time league champions.
Depay’s time in France saw him grow as a player and a person, as he underwent a massive transformation with his physique and general branding.
However, during his spell in France, Depay took up on a new career and began making hip-hop music.
Memphis released his Los Angeles-inspired freestyle, "LA Vibes" in 2017, and the music video featured Quincy Promes, his teammate in the Netherlands national team.
Since then, the Dutch superstar has been constantly releasing songs and music videos for a fan as he continues to build his brand as a part-time musician.

1. LA Vibes
LA Vibes is a rap song featuring Netherlands midfielder Quincy Promes.
The song was released in 2017 and marked Depay’s official debut into the music industry.
The 2 minutes and 27 seconds track opens up with Depay singing about his ambitions and aspirations in life, before going full rap mode.
Depay and Promes rap in Dutch, however, what is most interesting about it is the rich contents of the lyrics when translated into English.
The song was written by the two footballers themselves and the music video has garnered over 2.8 million views on YouTube.

2. Akwaaba (feat, Nana Fofie)
Depay teamed up with Dutch rapper Winne, and singer of Ghanaian descent Nana Fofie to pay homage to his father’s roots on Akwaaba.
Depay was born to a Ghanian father, Dennis Depay, and a Dutch mother, Cora Schensema.
However, his father reportedly walked out the family when he was 4, after his(father’s) relationship his mother went south.
Akwaaba is a collaboration with Rotterdam-based rapper Winne with support from Nana Fofie.
The song was released in 2018 and also reflected Depay’s growth with his rap.
The proceeds of the song reportedly went to The Genesis Foundation, an initiative by the player.
For the music video, Depay travelled together with videomakers ‘Since 88’ to Ghana.
They visited projects for blind and deaf children and invested in sports and education of these children through donations and training.
In the clip of ‘Akwaaba’ you see a Ghanaian blind children’s choir, and a Dutch children’s choir also contributed to the Memphis initiative.
The song is 3 minutes and 31 seconds long.

3. No Love
This is Depay’s biggest song to date. The 28-year-old Atletico star totally annihilated and destroyed the beat which was produced by Sherandell Maynard a.k.a. Rass King.
Rass King is responsible for producing most of Deapy’s songs and is also behind tracks like Akwaaba, Fall Back, 5 Milli (Freestyle), amongst others.
The song was released in December 2018, and here, Depay opens up on the feeling of heartbreak and vanity as he laments in the chorus,
‘Money changed the woman of my life
'No lo-o-o-o-o-ove, no lo-o-o-o-ove
'And that money I make doesn't cover anything up
'I said that money I make that covers nothing up,' in the chorus of No Love.
The rap song which is was sang in both Dutch and English is certainly one of Depay’s best songs of all time.
Some fans have also been quick to label it his best track till date.
The song has garnered over 11 million streams on Spotify and the visuals for the song currently has over 19 million views on YouTube, the most in his music career so far.

4. 2 Corinthians 5:7
On 2 Corinthians 5:7 is the 7th track off his debut album ‘Heavy Steppers’ which was released in November 2020.
On the 2 minutes and 41 seconds track, Depay shows off his rap talents on a very catchy hip-hop beat.
The song has mostly been lauded particularly for its production, although, there’s still an endless debate ongoing on if it is actually the best song off the project as most fans continue to make a case for Track 8 which is titled ‘Blessings’.
2 Corinthians 5:7 is a verse in the Bible that reads: ‘For we live by faith, not by sight’.
In the song, Depay opens up on his resilience, never say die attitude, as well as his hunger for success.
The song currently has over 3 million streams on Spotify and the music video has over 4.4 million views.

5. These Days
These Days is Memphis Depay’s third single of 2023 following his move from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid.
Depay released the song in late July amid reports of a rumoured affair with Nigerian DJ and philanthropist DJ Cuppy.
These Days is arguably one of Depay’s best singles ever and further emphasizes his impressive choice of beats.
If there’s one thing the Atletico star does excellently well, it is his beat selection.
The song was produced by Kris Salva also known as 'Salvathore'.
Salvathore has worked with some of the biggest music acts in the world including David Guetta, Fuse ODG, Stefflon Don, Tiwa Savage, and Sarkodie, amongst others.
These Days by Memphis Depay was sung in both English and Dutch.
In addition to the fact that Depay writes his rap by himself, the Dutch superstar was able to channel out his inner Drake on the hip-hop and Rnb-inspired track.
Depay opens up on his rollercoaster of feelings of love and lust while expressing his hurt from his previous relationship.
The Atletico star also showed massive improvement in his songwriting as well and it’s very much worth a listen.
