Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has handed Poland-based Timothy Ouma a call-up for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Gambia and Seychelles.

Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma is among those called up to the squad by head coach Benni McCarthy ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

Ouma is one of those who have earned early call-ups to the national team for the matches against The Gambia and Seychelles as Benni McCarthy’s men seek to maintain their momentum from the CHAN 2024 tournament.

The midfielder will link up with the team again, since March this year, when he was involved in the World Cup qualifiers against The Gambia and Gabon.

At the time, he started on the bench in the 3-3 draw against Johnathan McKinstry’s men, before getting selected into the starting XI in the 2-1 loss to Gabon.

Ouma Getting Gametime this Season

Ouma is getting gametime this season after joining Polish club Lech Poznan on a season-long loan from Czech giants Slavia Prague, where he had found opportunities limited since his Ksh473 million transfer from Swedish side Elfsborg in January.

Since joining the club, Ouma has made eight appearances in all competitions, including two in the league, and four in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

The midfielder will hope to continue the run to earn to a starting place in McCarthy’s team for the two matches which will be played at Kasarani Stadium on September 5 and 9.

Harambee Stars are out of contention for a World Cup place but will want to make a major statement following their good run at CHAN 2024 where they made it to the quarter-final.
