Wolves vs Manchester United: Preview, Team News, Time and Where to Watch

Manchester United have a chance to take advantage of top four rivals’ dropped points as they play away to Premier League’s bottom side Wolves on Monday.

Manchester United will look to overcome their recent struggles at Molineux and find some much-needed consistency when they face a beleaguered Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

United's recent Premier League form has been a mixed bag, with a win, a draw, and a loss in their last three matches.

After a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Everton, the Red Devils responded with a strong victory over Crystal Palace. However, they were unable to build on that momentum, surrendering a lead to draw 1-1 with a struggling West Ham side in a frustrating late collapse.

Match Preview

This erratic form has left United in 12th place, though the congested nature of the table means they are still only three points away from the top five. A win on Monday could significantly improve their standing.

In stark contrast, Wolves are enduring one of the most difficult starts to a Premier League season in recent history. Rob Edwards’s team has managed just two points from their first 14 games, a tally that equals the joint-lowest ever at this stage of a top-flight campaign, matching Sheffield United's infamous 2020–21 run.

Edwards has acknowledged the grim reality of their situation, stating, "We don’t want to go out with a whimper." While on paper this appears to be a straightforward fixture for Manchester United, recent history suggests otherwise. Wolves secured a surprising league double over United last season, giving them a psychological edge despite their current form.

Team News

Wolves' problems are compounded by key absences. Midfield engine Joao Gomes, arguably their standout player this season, is suspended after accumulating five yellow cards. His likely replacement, Marshall Munetsi, is out with a calf injury, and Rodrigo Gomes remains a long-term absentee.

With Fer López and Ladislav Krejcí also facing late fitness tests, manager Rob Edwards may be forced into a makeshift selection.

The visitors will also be without key personnel. Striker Benjamin Sesko is still recovering from a knee injury and is not expected back until later in December. In defence, Harry Maguire remains sidelined with a thigh problem.

Ruben Amorim is hopeful that both Matthijs de Ligt and Diogo Dalot will be fit after picking up knocks against West Ham. Meanwhile, former Wolves star Matheus Cunha, who returned from a head injury in that match, is still looking to find his scoring form for United.

Cunha has only one Premier League goal since his high-profile transfer but will be hoping a return to his old stomping ground can reignite the spark that saw him net 15 times last season.
