Manchester United have agreed a preliminary deal for a talented Colombian teenager, who is set to officially join next summer.

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign an exciting young midfielder securing the future services of teenage sensation Cristian Orozco.

The Premier League giants have moved swiftly to lock down a preliminary agreement for the 17-year-old, who currently plies his trade for Fortaleza CEIF in his native Colombia.

Orozco has emerged as one of the most promising defensive midfielders in South American youth football as reported by Manchester Evening News.

The youngster has already garnered significant attention, most notably by captaining Colombia’s Under-17 national team.

However, eager United fans will have to wait before seeing the starlet don the famous red shirt in competitive action.

Due to international transfer regulations regarding minors, Orozco cannot officially complete his move to Old Trafford until he turns 18 next year. Consequently, he is set to remain with Fortaleza CEIF to continue his development before finalizing the transfer in July.

Despite the delay in his permanent arrival, the club is wasting no time in integrating him into the Manchester United culture.

Orozco is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom imminently to familiarize himself with the area.

During his visit, United officials will give the youngster an exclusive tour of the Carrington training complex and the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford. It is understood that the deal to bring Orozco from Fortaleza is valued at approximately $1 million (£750,000), representing a significant investment in potential talent.

Expanding the Global Search

Following the implementation of post-Brexit regulations, which have restricted English clubs from freely signing players under 18 from European academies, United have widened their scouting net significantly.

The club has placed a renewed emphasis on identifying and securing elite talent from South America before their value skyrockets.

The move for Orozco mirrors the club's successful pursuit of Diego Leon in January. United agreed a fee of £3.3 million, potentially rising to £7 million with add-ons, to sign Leon from Cerro Porteno.

Much like Orozco’s arrangement, that deal outlined that Leon would remain in Paraguay before completing his move during the summer window to ensure compliance with transfer rules.

Since arriving, Leon has settled in well, impressing coaches at Carrington and earning the opportunity to work exclusively with the first team during pre-season.

Leon was recently introduced to the Old Trafford crowd alongside major signings Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, signaling a fresh direction for the squad.
