Uganda now needs to hold Tanzania to any draw, at least when they meet in the last game on Friday afternoon.
Uganda is just a point away from winning the CECAFA Under-18 women’s title following their huge win 7-0 over Burundi on Tuesday night at the Azam Complex in Tanzania’s capital Dar Es Salaam.
The team needed to score more than two goals to take over the lead from hosts Tanzania who have also won their three games to register nine points.
Uganda’s coach Ayub Khalifa, who was finally impressed with her team’s output on Tuesday night, had hinted that the goals’ rule could eventually decide the title after the two giants won their first two games.

“The girls did everything they were supposed from defending well, not conceding and scoring the goals in plenty like we wanted,” the coach sighed with relief after taking over the lead.

Khalifa has turned his focus to the game, well aware of what the Tanzanians can offer in front of their fans.
“We might want a draw, but it is going to be a hard game because they will fight hard to win the trophy at home,” Khalifa said.
