Tusker FC Coach Charles Okere has opened up regarding the long absence of his star forward Ryan Ogam and how he is coping amid a tight FKF Premier League title race.

Tusker FC coach Charles Okere has weighed in on the full scale of star striker Ryan Ogam’s absence from the side.

Ogam has been out since March, following an injury that needed surgery, and during that time, the Brewers have struggled for goals.

Tusker were leading the FKF Premier League standings when Ogam got injured, having been the FKF Premier League top scorer with 15 goals, but they have been struggling to score in his absence as those he left behind are unable to fill his boots.

It has seen Tusker slip up in the title race, missing a number of opportunities to take a giant lead over rivals Kenya Police and Gor Mahia with unexpected losses and frustrating draws derailing their charge.

Tusker are now three points behind Police, who lead the FKF Premier League standings with 58, but they are just two ahead of Gor Mahia in third, with K’Ogalo having a game in hand.

Tusker Coach Speaks About Impact of Ryan Ogam’s Absence

Tusker FC striker Ryan Ogam celebrates a goal with his team-mates.

Okere’s team have not been consistent in the second leg, managing six goals in the seven matches that Ogam has missed, but the tactician is shrugging off talk that they cannot cope without their star man.

“Of course, it is a bit tough when you lose your top scorer, but for us, that should not be an excuse,” Okere told Telecomasia.net.

“We have a team of 30 players and there are others who should step up if one is missing. His absence has been felt but we can’t keep crying about that. We must create other solutions.”

Okere will need to quickly find the solutions he is talking about in Tusker’s remaining four games, starting with an away clash to FC Talanta on Wednesday.
