Gor Mahia's  title defense is facing the toughest of tests considering that the record champions are trailing league leaders Police by five points, although K'Ogallo have played one game less.

The weekend wins for both Police and the brewers has not only increased pressure on Gor Mahia but afforded some breathing space for the top two as the title run gathered momentum.

Police needed a stoppage time thunderbolt from maverick midfielder Marvin Nabwire to silence Bandari 1-0 on Saturday. Tusker followed sooth by clamping SEAL 2-0 courtesy of goals from Deogratious Ojok and Erick Balecho.

Gor Mahia are not in action following the postponement of the Mashemeji derby against fiercest rivals AFC Leopards. The defending champions have had a fair share of troubles this season.

Coach Sinica Mihic fell out with its technical bench and there has been a reported unrest among the players with Pulse Sports reported previously on Mihic's troubled relationship with star midfielder Austin Odiambo.

Gor Mahia sacked Brazilian coach Leonardo Neiva  earlier this year despite guiding the club to the 2023-24 title triumph. Mihic and his players will even be under more scrutiny should the team fail to defend their title. Gor Mahia ave a demading fanbase and nothing short of delivering the title will appease te fans.

Gor Mahia are left with five matches and must win all their remaining matches to stand a chance of winning a record 22nd title.
