German playmaker Florian Wirtz will reportedly earn a bumper salary at Liverpool, which will make him the club’s second highest earner, when his £126 million transfer goes through.

Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz is reportedly on the verge of a summer move to Liverpool and the 22-year-old playmaker's potential wages at Anfield have now been revealed.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is eager to bolster his Premier League-winning squad, and a deal for Wirtz appears to be progressing. However, securing the German international's signature will require a record-breaking transfer fee.

Leverkusen have reportedly set Wirtz's price at £126 million. While Liverpool have offered £100 million with £13 million in add-ons, the German club is holding out for a fee that would surpass Chelsea's £115 million purchase of Moises Caicedo.

Despite the hefty price tag, Wirtz has reportedly made it clear that Liverpool is his preferred destination, with the move considered all but finalised.

According to German outlet Bild, the Reds are prepared to offer Wirtz a lucrative five-year contract worth £355,000 per week.

This would make him the second-highest earner at Anfield, behind Mohamed Salah (£400,000 per week) and ahead of captain Virgil van Dijk (£350,000 per week).

Interestingly, Wirtz has previously downplayed the importance of money. In an interview with Sports Illustrated Germany earlier this year, he stated, "I don't even care about how much money I have in my account or what I might earn in the future. Of course, you should make sure you get a good contract. But for me, the sporting perspective is much more important than the money."

He further emphasised his upbringing, explaining how his parents managed his finances after his move to Leverkusen at 16, instilling a sense of financial responsibility.

Slot's clear vision for Wirtz's role as a number 10 within the Liverpool setup seems to have convinced the young star.

Following Germany's Nations League defeat to Portugal, Wirtz appeared to give a nod of affirmation when questioned by Dailymail about his excitement regarding a potential Liverpool move.
