South Africa and Algeria joined the two remaining spots for the 2024 African Nations Championships in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Algeria and South Africa have sealed the final two slots for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), completing the 19-team roster for the eagerly anticipated continental tournament set to take place this August across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Algeria booked their spot in emphatic fashion on Friday, sweeping past The Gambia with a 3-0 aggregate victory, all goals coming in the second-leg triumph.

The North Africans will be aiming to go one better this time after narrowly losing the 2022 final on home soil to Senegal.

Meanwhile, South Africa staged a dramatic turnaround on Sunday, overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Malawi to win the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

The win capped off the qualification process and confirmed the full list of participating nations.

Reigning champions Senegal headline the tournament as they prepare to defend the title they claimed in Algiers in 2022.

The official draw, held in February, placed the host nations in distinct groups as Kenya will compete in a highly competitive Group A alongside Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia.

Tanzania find themselves in Group B with Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.

Algeria and South Africa join Group C, which features Uganda, Niger, and Guinea as Group D wraps up the draw with defending champions Senegal joined by Equatorial Guinea, Sudan, and Nigeria.

The delayed 2024 edition promises thrilling matchups, as teams battle for continental glory across East Africa.
