Gor Mahia’s new signing, Denis Omedi, is keeping his personal targets under wraps as he prepares to make his mark with the 22-time Kenya Premier League champions.
The 32-year-old Ugandan forward joined Gor Mahia from Rwandan giants APR FC after previously making a name for himself at Kitara FC and Booma FC.
Omedi completed his move to the Kenyan powerhouse ahead of the 2026/27 season, signing a two-year contract as Gor Mahia look to strengthen their squad for another title challenge.
Denis Omedi: I'm Ready to Make a Mark With Gor Mahia
Denis Omedi has spoken positively about his early experience at Gor Mahia, saying he has quickly felt comfortable since arriving at the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Ugandan forward praised the reception he has received from different sections of the club, noting that the support from the supporters, his new teammates and the technical staff has helped make his transition much easier.
Omedi also highlighted the role of the coaching and management teams in creating a positive atmosphere around the squad.
Denis Omedi said the overall setup has given him the confidence to focus on adapting to his new surroundings, building relationships with his teammates and preparing for the demands of playing for one of Kenya’s biggest clubs.
Omedi believes the conditions at the club provide a good platform for him to develop, contribute to the team and establish himself in Kenyan football.
“Generally, I can say Kenya is so welcoming. The fans, the players, the technical team, led by the head coach, and the management; everything is okay, and everyone is welcoming. The environment is okay, and I think it's supposed to be an environment worth working in,” he said.
Denis Omedi further revealed that he has set himself ambitious personal objectives for his first season at Gor Mahia, although he prefers to keep them private.
He explained that he sees his individual ambitions as a source of motivation and believes keeping them to himself allows him to remain focused on the work required to achieve them.
Omedi acknowledged that some of the targets he has set are demanding and can even appear daunting, but he views that challenge as an added incentive to push himself harder.
He believes that maintaining high personal standards will help him stay disciplined and committed throughout the campaign.
Omedi also stressed that his individual ambitions are closely linked to the club’s success, and by improving his own performances and working towards the objectives he has set, he can make a positive contribution to the team’s collective goals during the season.
“The team also has their own personal targets. But also, as an individual, I have my own personal targets that I have set for myself, and I basically know targets; if you say them out, they don't come to pass,” he said.
“So they are my own, and they are the ones that keep me motivated, and I always make sure I work so hard because I know sometimes the targets I have set scare me as well. So I know it demands a lot from me, and I believe that if I am doing it for myself, I believe that it will also benefit the team.”
