Tusker FC humbled Gor Mahia 3-1 to claim early bragging rights in the FKF Super Cup match at the Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, August 23.

The defeat leaves the Gor Mahia technical bench with plenty to rethink ahead of the new season if they hope to successfully defend their FKF Premier League crown.

The match started with Gor Mahia and Tusker FC both looking to settle into an energetic rhythm.

Gor Mahia threatened first in the eighth minute when Ben Stanley Omondi unleashed a sharp strike on target, but the Tusker goalkeeper, Perrauld Ndinga, reacted brilliantly to deny the opener and clear the danger.

Tusker FC almost broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when Yakeen Muteheli brilliantly skipped past the Gor Mahia goalkeeper and sent a dangerous cutback toward Abdoulie Joof, only to see the Gor Mahia defence scramble it behind for a corner just in time.

Gor Mahia earned a corner of their own shortly after but failed to capitalise on the opportunity as Tusker grew steadily into the contest.

By the 23rd minute, the game settled into an intense battle, highlighted by a fierce, ongoing duel on the flank between Enock Machaka and the Tusker backline.

In the 33rd minute, Daniel Sakari surged down the right wing and delivered a dangerous floating cross into the box, but the Tusker defence reacted quickly to clear the threat and keep the scoreline goalless at 0-0.

Just a minute later in the 34th minute, Tusker FC struck first. Servyl Akouala delivered a precise low free-kick into the box, finding Francis Oduor perfectly positioned at the edge of the area to sweep a crisp half-volley home for 1-0.

Tusker doubled their lead just two minutes later in the 36th minute. Alvin Mang'eni surged past his markers down the left flank and slid a slick pass to Eugene Ikutwa, who controlled smoothly and unleashed a strike past Humphrey Katasi to make it 2-0.

Gor Mahia managed to pull one back in the 39th minute through a long throw-in that resulted in an own goal by Tusker's Eugene Ikutwa, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Gor Mahia kicked off the second half with an immediate double substitution, introducing Ebenezer Assifuah and Musa Shariff to replace Derrick Omedi and Enock Machaka.

Tusker extended their cushion in the 57th minute as Ian Simiyu made his mark despite taking heavy hits all afternoon, meeting Yakeen Muteheli's cross with a brilliant flicked header to make it 3-1.

Gor Mahia continued to push relentlessly in search of a second goal to cut the deficit, but Tusker's defence held firm as the match approached the 80th minute.

Despite throwing everything forward in the dying minutes and having six minutes of stoppage time added, Gor Mahia struggled to break down Tusker's resolute defence, as the match ultimately ended 3-1 in favour of the Brewers.
