A new generation of Cristiano Ronaldos is about to enter the limelight with Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr is officially following in his father's footsteps, receiving his first international call-up for Portugal’s under-15 squad.

And as expected, his dad, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner himself, is bursting with pride at the first of hopefully many call-ups.

Cristiano Jr Steps Into the Spotlight

At just 14 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr has already enjoyed a mini world tour through football academies, having laced up for youth sides at Juventus, Manchester United, and now Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

But this month marks a major milestone as he received his first-ever Portugal call-up, and is set to compete at the Vlatko Markovic International Tournament in Croatia from May 13 to 18.

Although he is eligible for Spain or the U.S.A, the youngster has chosen to represent his father’s homeland, and all eyes will be on him as he dons the famous red jersey.

He joins a talented youth squad alongside prospects from Porto, Braga, and Tottenham, and has reportedly been impressing coaches by playing above his age group at Mahd Academy.

Ronaldo beams with Pride at son’s achievement

Naturally, Cristiano Sr couldn’t hold back his joy, sharing the moment with a proud Instagram post: “Proud of you, son!” But despite the big surname and spotlight, Ronaldo has always stressed the importance of letting his son find his own path.

Speaking at a previous interview, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star said, “Right at this moment, Cristiano [Jr] wants to be a football player but I don't make big pressure, I make a little.

“He's 14 years old, he has pressure already to be the son of Cristiano [senior]. Let him do his own mistakes, but I hope that in the future he can be a professional player.

“If he doesn't become a player, maybe another job, but I will always support him. We cannot put pressure on our sons because we are famous.”

The elder Ronaldo, still playing professionally at 40 insists he will support his son no matter what, and as the next generation of Ronaldo steps into the global stage, fans everywhere will be watching closely.
