Just weeks into his tenure, AFC Leopards' star striker has made a surprising revelation about his ambitious career goals.

AFC Leopards striker Arthur Gitego has made a shocking revelation that is bound to leave Ingwe fans in a state of bewilderment.

The Rwanda international, who has been in scintillating form since his move to the Den in February, scoring four goals in just his first two appearances, has openly expressed his ambition to take his career to Europe in the near future.

Gitego's exceptional performances not only earned him a callup to the Rwanda national team for friendlies against Botswana and Madagascar but have also ignited his dream of playing in Europe's elite football leagues.

“Words can’t explain how happy I am when I score. I want to keep working hard so that I can get the chance to score more goals for my club," Gitego enthusiastically shared with Times Sport.

The 22-year-old's journey to AFC Leopards saw him leaving a notable mark at Marines FC, where he netted 16 goals during his stint.

His transition to the Kenyan powerhouse was seen as a major coup for the club, considering his promising talent and goal-scoring ability.

However, Gitego's recent statements have unveiled his lofty ambitions, which extend far beyond his current tenure at AFC Leopards.

“The target is to improve my game, and I am looking forward to playing in Europe, where football is more advanced and can change you into a top player. It is my dream to play there, and I have to work for it,” he added, setting a potential countdown to his departure.

This revelation has undoubtedly come as a shock to many AFC Leopards fans, who have been mesmerized by Gitego's performances and were hopeful of his long-term commitment to the club.

Gitego, however, seems to have his sights firmly set on achieving his European dream.

“My goal is that, in June, I would like to change the team but of course, it has to be a top team. I would love to go somewhere higher because everything is possible if you pray, fight, believe, and wait for a chance," he concluded.

Gitego's impact is not limited to club football, as he has made a mark on the international stage as well.

With four international caps for Rwanda's senior national team, following his significant contributions to the Rwanda U23 team, he has proven to be a valuable asset.

His debut in November 2023 was a memorable one, playing a pivotal role in Rwanda's impressive performances in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
