Murang'a Seal president Robert Macharia has called on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to investigate the recent incidents that marred their goalless draw against Gor Mahia at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The match, played on Sunday, November 11, 2023, saw chaos erupt shortly after the final whistle, as a section of fans caused mayhem, resulting in running battles with security personnel.

Former Gor Mahia Treasurer Sally Bolo has criticised match officials and condemned fan misconduct following a controversial match against Murang'a Seal.
The chaos began when an irate Gor Mahia fan stormed onto the pitch, seemingly intent on attacking the referee due to perceived poor officiating.
The match had indeed seen controversial decisions, including a disallowed goal by Benson Omala. Fans vented their frustration, uprooting seats and throwing them onto the pitch, prompting police to release tear gas and shoot rubber bullets in an attempt to restore order.
The situation continued for an extended period before eventually calming down inside the stadium.

FKFPL Murang’a Seal boss Gabriel Njoroge: It is not news that Gor Mahia fans always cause chaos
The Murang’a Seal coach has described Gor Mahia as a “yesteryear club” whose fans behaved in a very inappropriate manner by attacking his “young” charges.
In a formal letter addressed to FKF Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno, Macharia expressed his concerns and called for decisive action to be taken in accordance with FKF regulations.
"In accordance with Art. 9.1.3 of the FKF Regulations, Murang'a SEAL Football Club would like to bring to your attention the incidents that occurred after our FKF Premier League match against Gor Mahia FC played at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday, 11 November 2023," he stated.
Macharia also highlighted pre-match issues, stating, “On match day, during the pre-match meeting attended by our team officials among other officials, the Police Officer representing the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) raised a concern over the number of police officers deployed for the match which he felt was inadequate. Unfortunately, this was not addressed before kick-off, in disregard of Art. 9.1.2 of the FKF Regulations.”
The president continued, “Immediately after the final whistle, Gor Mahia FC players accosted the match officials and this riled up a sizeable number of their fans in attendance who moved towards the tunnel in an attempt to block the match officials from leaving the field of play.”
Macharia, a career lawayer, went on to condemn the actions of the unruly fans who started the chaos after the final whistle.
“From then on, and in violation of Art. 9.6 of the FKF Rules, the hooligans took over and began throwing objects onto the field. The few security officers available were unable to contain the situation with a good number of the police officers attacked by angry fans right inside the field and in the full glare of the cameras!”
The club founder expressed concern for the safety of his team and fans, noting, “With the security overwhelmed, the hooligans moved to the stands to attack peaceful Murang'a SEAL FC fans who had remained in their stands during the chaos awaiting for calm to be restored before they could leave the stadium. Sadly, with no security, our fans and one of our players who was in the stands, were roughed up with some of them losing their valuable items to the goons.”
