The Sugar Millers look to strengthen their grip on fourth place, while Mwatate plot MCF's downfall

Mara Sugar will hope to continue with their league form when they host Murang’a Seal in the National Super League on Sunday afternoon at Awendo Green Stadium.

The Sugar Millers are high in confidence after bagging a vital three points against MCF a week ago and managing to get their second win in five matches.

Prior to that win, they had beaten Darajani Gogo 3-0 at home as well as a 2-1 to Migori Youth away in Migori.

Coach Francis Xavier will hope to see a better side after a week's break as they want to reduce the gap between them and the top three sides on the standings.

They occupy the fourth spot with 43 points from 24 league matches and will be hoping to seal a win in their fight for a playoff spot on the standings.

Looking at the visitors, Murang’a Seal are also chasing a win and ensuring they keep climbing the log table to challenge for the league honours.

Fresh from a hard-fought 1-0 win over Migori Youth in midweek, coach Vincent Nyaberi has to motivate his men to fight for another victory.

Seal are unbeaten in their last 12 matches, with their last result on the road being a 2-0 win over Mombasa Elite on May 15.

The central-Kenya outfit occupies the second spot on the standings with 54 points from 25 matches, and a win will give them 57 points, and it will be just a goal difference separating them from log leaders Shabana.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Mwatate United will be hoping to return to winning ways when they welcome MCF at Wundanyi Stadium.

Mwatate have won just one of their last five games, which should worry player-coach Solomon Mandela but coming up against an MCF side, who are experiencing similar fortunes, may give them some confidence.

MCF have won three of their last seven league matches, with the result being blamed on a depleted squad due to injuries, but one positive thing that came out of their draw with Darajani Gogo is the return of several star players, including Ian Mutanda.

With both side's possessing top-eight aspirations, victory will help in making that a reality, but it should be noted that the last time these two sides met earlier in the season, the clash ended in a 2-2 draw in Machakos.
