Pulse Sports dissects what the starting lineups for both teams could look like during the matchday.

After coming out of the Mashemeji Derby scathed, Gor Mahia will be looking to bounce back when they face Tusker on Sunday.

The Nyayo Stadium clash is a potential Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title decider, and Gor Mahia cannot afford to lose to this season’s rivals.

The record champions are under pressure to emerge as this year’s champions, having failed to do so in the last two terms.

On the other hand, Robert Matano is confident of retaining it for the third time in a row, and this will help the Ruaraka-based outfit assert their dominance.

Given the stakes this match carries, Matano, and his Gor Mahia counterpart, Johnathan McKinstry, are expected to deploy their strongest men to do Sunday duty.

Gad Mathews is expected to keep the K’Ogalo gloves, while Geoffrey Ochieng and Philemon Otieno will take up their respective full-back positions.

Ernest Wendo, Austin Odhiambo, and Alpha Onyango are expected to take up midfield duties, while on the flanks, Boniface Omondi, Peter Lwasa, or George Odhiambo will take charge.

Benson Omala is set to be given the nod to lead the attacking mission against the reigning champions.

Despite a grueling test against Ulinzi Stars in the FKF Cup, Matano is not expected to rest his key players.

Brian Bwire will again start in goal ahead of Michael Wanjala, while Mike Kibwage and Charles Momanyi will form the defensive core.

With his experience, Humphrey Mieno should lead the midfield department, while Siwa Shaphan and Mike Oduor form the attacking group.

Tusker Predicted XI: Brian Bwire, Daniel Sakari, Kevin Monyi, Charles Momanyi, Tom Teka, Humphrey Mieno, Eric Zakayo, David Odoyo, Deogratius Ojok, Mike Oduor, Siwa Shaphan.

Gor Mahia predicted XI: Gad Mathews, Geoffrey Ochieng, Dennis Ng’ang’a, Silvester Owino, Ernest Wendo, Alpha Onyango, Austin Odhiambo, Peter Lwasa, Boniface Omondi, Benson Omala.
