Linton Maina set up FC Koln's goal as they were held by Bochum to remain at the bottom of the Bundesliga table

Kenyan midfielder Linton Maina grabbed a valuable assist as FC Koln were held to a 1-1 draw by Bochum in a Bundesliga match played on Saturday evening, keeping them rooted to the bottom of the table.

Maina clocked 88 minutes under his belt. Aside from giving an assist, he registered two key passes, completed one of his two attempted take ons and made one big chance, to keep his impressive individual run going after he scored a goal last weekend.

Koln had the game under control at the beginning, but Bochum got better and better as time went on and rewarded themselves with the lead in the 25th minute through Lukas Daschner.

Philipp Hofmann attempted a shot after a cross was whipped in from the left, but was denied by Marvin Schwäbe.

Daschner stood in the right place to capitalise on the rebound. The hosts continued to have opportunities until the break, taking a deserved lead at the end of the first half.

After the break, VfL had the first chance again. But then, as if out of nowhere, Koln restored parity.

Florian Kainz executed a pass to the left wing, finding Maina, before the Kenyan whipped in a cross towards Davie Selke to slot it home and make it 1-1 in the 54th minute.

After that, both teams still had opportunities to put them into the lead, with a long-range shot from Jan Thielmann being the closest for FC Koln.

Bochum had the better opportunities but could not make them count and in the end, both sides would have to settle for a draw.
