AFC Leopards did not have the best warm up for next weekend’s Mashemeji Derby as they were forced to share the spoils with Kariobangi Sharks.

AFC Leopards extended their winless run in the FKF Premier League to three games following a 1-1 draw with Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday.

Leopards, who headed into the match on the back of their goalless draw with Murang’a Seal, which had been preceded by a shock 2-0 loss to Mara Sugar, were hoping to bounce back to winning ways but found the going tough.

In fact, Sharks went ahead first, youngster Humphrey Aroko breaking the deadlock after just eight minutes, and they held on until the break.

Leopards had few opportunities in the opening half with Victor Omune hitting the side netting after a great solo run that saw him beat his markers but fail to find the target in the 27th minute. Ronald Sichenje also had an effort from distance but it went wide.

Where Does the Draw Leave Ingwe?

Ingwe would draw level after the hour mark when youngster Kelly Madada saw his header cleared off the line but Victor Omune was just there to poke home following a freekick.

Chances would become scare after the goal as both sides protected what they had with Leopards forced to settle for a second straight draw that further derails their title push.

Leopards have now drawn five of their nine league games, the joint highest in the FKF Premier League so far this season, which leaves them third on the table on 14 points, five behind leaders Gor Mahia, who have played a game less.

It was not the kind of warm up Leopards would have wished ahead of next weekend’s Mashemeji Derby which will pit them against a Gor Mahia team that has won six of their last seven games.
