The explosive winger wants to stay with Abana Abeingo to feature for the club at the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kakamega Homeboyz winger Mike Isabwa is keen to fight for a regular starting place in the team amidst interest from Nairobi City Stars, Ulinzi Stars and newly-promoted Shabana FC.

Isabwa, who was signed from Vihiga Bullets during the 2021-22 mid-season window by then head coach Bernard Mwalala, was loaned back to the club for the just-concluded campaign in an effort to help the club avoid relegation.

However, during his first match back at the club against Mathare United, he suffered an injury to his hand, which effectively ruled him out from playing for the rest of the season.

“I did well for Kakamega Homeboyz when I signed from Bullets. I worked with John Baraza for a while before Patrick Odhiambo came in as coach in February,” he said.

“I played under him for a couple of games before I was sent out on loan to Bullets at the last minute after the coach suggested that move there, so I had no other choice.

“In my first game there, I got injured, and since then, I have not played a single game because I have been forced to step up my recovery through rehabilitation."

Homeboyz won their first ever FKF Cup and in so doing, qualified for their maiden continental showpiece next season. Isabwa took part in just one game before being loaned out, but insists he is willing to fight for his place in the team.

Despite interest from the three aforementioned clubs, Isabwa is willing to win his place back in the team and wants to feature for the club at the CAF Confederation Cup.

“I am ready to fight for my chance. I believe I will make a mark next season and I am itching and yearning for the new season.”

Isabwa started his career at Rivers United in Eldoret and has since played for Vihiga United, Vihiga Bullets, Kariobangi Sharks and Kakamega Homeboyz.
