Kakamega Homeboyz seek second place as they face Nairobi City Stars in a crucial FKFPL clash.

Following a disappointing trip that ended in a 2-0 defeat against AFC Leopards in Nairobi, Kakamega Homeboyz are now setting their sights on a home victory as they face off against Nairobi City Stars at Bukhungu Stadium this Friday afternoon.

Despite the setback, Abana Abeingo have proven to be a force to reckon with, especially in the fortress of their home ground, where they have impressively secured three consecutive clean sheets.

Patrick Odhiambo's charges have notched up eight wins out of the 15 games they have played this season, netting an impressive 20 goals along the way.

Moses Shummah, who has already bagged six goals this season, just two less than the league's top scorer Benson Omala, is eager to add to his tally against City Stars.

Currently sitting in fourth place in the league standings, four points behind league leaders Gor Mahia, a win over City Stars would propel Abana Abeingo into the coveted second spot.

On the other hand, City Stars enter the contest with an impressive streak of victories in their last four games against Ulinzi Stars, Bandari, Posta Rangers, and Kariobangi Sharks.

The Simba wa Nairobi have displayed remarkable consistency with seven wins, five defeats, and three draws in their last 15 matches.

City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti is laser-focused on securing victory as his team aims to achieve a top-ten position this season, having narrowly escaped relegation last season.

"I think when we started the season, we said we would go match by match. Every team is different to us, and we just have to make sure that we are able to get some points out of the matches we play," he stated.

"Of course, we have changed some tactics to ensure that we do not concede goals, but I am happy we are moving slowly but surely toward where we want to be because we need to do much better than our performance last season."

City Stars will rely heavily on the exceptional form of goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe, who has been outstanding in recent matches.

Mukolwe will play a crucial role in maintaining a rock-solid defense as they continue their journey toward becoming a formidable force in the league.

Vincent Owino, the hard-working midfielder, stands as Simba wa Nairobi's main source of goals with six to his name in the league, and he possesses the talent and determination to inspire City Stars to victory over Abana Abeingo.

In head-to-head statistics, Homeboyz have won three straight matches against City Stars, while the latter has emerged victorious once, with four matches ending in a draw in their last eight encounters.
