CHAN 2024 Group D Full Schedule: Dates, Teams and Match Fixtures

African football will take center stage on August 2 as the continent braces for the much-anticipated 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Among the standout groups, Group D promises fierce competition with four determined sides—Senegal, Nigeria, Congo, and Sudan—vying for two quarterfinal spots in matches spread across Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam.

This year’s tournament, reserved exclusively for players active in their national domestic leagues, was rescheduled from its original slot.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) delayed the competition by six months to provide additional time for the host countries to finalize essential infrastructure upgrades, particularly on stadiums in Zanzibar and Tanzania.

Senegalese head coach Souleymane Diallo, whose team faces Nigeria in their opener, stressed the psychological importance of the first match.

"We will have to approach it (the first game) with a very good state of mind, a very good mentality, but above all an African mentality which consists of being serene first and identifying the obstacles we need to tackle," Diallo told Cafonline.com.

Nigeria, absent from CHAN since 2016, makes a highly anticipated return. Now under the stewardship of Malian-born coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles overcame a tough second-round qualifier against Ghana to book their ticket.
