Gor Mahia, who remain unbeaten in 15 matches of the 2023/2024 season, are set to face Bandari as they aim to extend their lead in the FKF Premier League.

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia are gearing up to extend their lead at the summit of the FKF Premier League standings as they welcome Bandari on Friday afternoon.

With a current tally of 31 points, K'Ogalo stands at the pinnacle of the league, setting the stage for an intriguing battle with the Dockers in Machakos.

Gor Mahia's remarkable run has seen them go undefeated for 15 consecutive matches this season, and their recent triumph over Talanta only adds to their impressive string of performances.

The champions' victories, including a resounding 2-0 win over Talanta and a hard-fought 1-2 victory over Kariobangi Sharks underscore their dominance in the league.

K'Ogalo's last 20 matches reflect an impressive record of 10 wins, 2 losses, and 8 draws.

Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry exudes confidence in his team's ability to maintain their formidable form.

"I think it's now 17 games since we last lost back in June. That gives the guys a lot of confidence but also it puts a marker on you because other teams want to be the team that topples you," McKinstry affirmed as per Citizen Digital.

The Irishman acknowledged the mounting pressure on his team but remained optimistic about their prospects against Bandari, a team that has also had a commendable season.

"We know that it puts added pressure on us because everyone is asking when are they going to slip up, and we play Bandari, who have also had a very good season, and we know that they are going to be a very tough opponent, but we just have to go about our business, and there is no reason we can't continue our run," he added.

For Gor Mahia, the hopes of extending their lead rest, in part, on the shoulders of striker Benson Omala, the current leading top scorer in the league with nine goals.

Additionally, Austin Odhiambo, a standout midfielder for K'Ogalo this season, remains instrumental in controlling the game's tempo from the middle of the park and will play a key role in breaking down the Dockers' defense.

On the other side of the pitch, Bandari enters the fixture brimming with confidence following a convincing 2-0 victory against Muranga Seal.

Their recent string of wins, with eight victories in their last 15 matches, underscores their good form.

Positioned fifth in the league table, Bandari trails the leaders, Gor Mahia, by five points.

Ugandan international Derrick Nsimbabi has been a pivotal figure for Bandari, contributing with five crucial goals and he will be eager to add to his tally and propel his side to victory in Machakos.

When it comes to head-to-head encounters, Gor Mahia boasts a superior record against the Dockers.

The champions have not suffered defeat at the hands of Bandari in their last 11 matches, setting the stage for an intriguing battle between these two football powerhouses.
